Jason Damianos
Jason graduated with a BS/BA in Business Administration from the University of Hartford and obtained a second degree - a Bachelor of Science in Enology (Fermentation Science) - from Fresno State University. Not satisfied with two degrees, Jason traveled to France to study in the Diplôme National d’Oenologue program at the University of Bordeaux and worked in the Médoc, the Graves, Premierès Côtes de Bordeaux, and in the legendary Loupiac and Cadillac areas. This opportunity gave him the knowledge and the experience to return to Long Island in 1996 and plant Jason’s Vineyard and head wine making at the family’s vineyards on the East End.
Jason has received many awards for his contribution to the field of Enology and Viticulture including the coveted “Merit Award” at his graduation and the “Anchor Award” presented to an Alumnus by the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business.
Jason's wines are emphatically flavorful. But, then, his appreciation of flavor has been nourished by his formal technical education and his hands-on approach to viticulture. Inevitably, all of his delicious wines flow from that history.
Jason has perfected a Meritage blend that has received industry attention since its first vintage. A combination of Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon ages in French oak to create a complex wine filled with ripe fruit, rich tannins and a touch of earthiness. The wine possesses the virtue of versatility; it can easily be served immediately or held to mature for future drinking. Like all of the selections on Jason’s wine list, the Meritage blend reflects the thought, care and skill that appears in every bottle.
Since Jason's passing in December 2016, we carry on his legacy. He will live forever in our hearts and through his wines.
